Types of Schools in the Netherlands

Picking a school for your child can really be quite confusing. Because of the number of options available, it would generally be difficult to find the one that is best for your kid. Of course, you want the right school where your child can adapt and flourish.

What are the types of schools that you can consider in the Netherlands?

Freinet Modern School

This type of school follows the movement that is first established by Celestin Freinet. He is a French who was an educator who taught in the 1950s. He believes that children should participate more inside the classroom. In his time, it is quite a reformed way of teaching.

The kids would talk to each other and formulate their works until they arrive at a finished result. Then they would present this to their teacher.

The children learned different subjects by going on field trips, making different products, and developing various services. The curiosity of the mind of the child was not halted by professors. Religious school

If you want your kids to simultaneously study academics and be infused with religious discussions and subjects, you can choose to get them into religious schools. You can choose from Protestant Christian, Catholic, Jewish, or Islamic schools.

Montessori schools

These schools are called Montessori because the principles used are based from Maria Montessori, an Italian educator. Her principle is basically about helping the student learn how to do the task himself. It is fostering the intelligence of the child by letting him experience things on his own. By seeing, touching, and totally feeling the task at hand, the kid can better figure out things on his own in order to apply it to other scenarios with the same causes.

Steiner school

Rudolf Steiner created a principle of education wherein it delves more into the creativity and imagination of the student. Children are taught according to their own rate of understanding. It supports the development of different levels of intelligence.
